Landscape Crew Lead (Eugene)
A crew leader at Cornerstone will supervise the day-to-day business to provide direct supervision and quality oversight of 4-5 person crews ensuring contract terms are fulfilled.
General Position Responsibilities:
Cornerstone is a mission driven non-profit organization providing on-the-job training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We operate businesses including landscape maintenance. A crew leader at Cornerstone will supervise the day-to-day business to provide direct supervision and quality oversight of 4-5 person crews ensuring contract terms are fulfilled according to contract specifications and within timelines. Provide on-going supervision, professional communication with customers and staff, and training to beginning groundskeepers and trainee associates ensuring quality standards and safety rules are always adhered to. Instill a team spirit of comradery and be an example of that spirit. Oversee work that showcases the value of a diverse workforce while still maintaining quality and exceeding customer expectations.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Supervise a crew to ensure quality work is always being done safely and in a manner that will fulfill customer expectations and contract specifications.
- Ensure crew members are trained on all aspects of job duties.
- Notify Landscape Manager immediately of any problems with work performed, staff safety, or customer relations.
- Assist Landscape Manager in developing and coordinating workflows and processes for landscape contracts in the region.
- Represent Cornerstone Associates in the mission of developing a diverse and capable workforce of neurodiverse individuals.
Secondary Functions:
- Ensure public relations are professionally maintained and communicate frequently with the Landscape Manager to improve efficiencies, etc.
- Inform Landscape Manager of adequate staff coverage to ensure contracts are fulfilled.
- Perform daily landscape maintenance crew leader duties as needed.
- Perform other organizational duties as assigned.
Job Scope
- Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operates from established and well-known procedures. Decisions are made within general company policy.
- May be asked to provide input on recommendations concerning long-range operational planning for the organization.
- This is a critical position in the company. Mistakes/errors can lead to cancellation of contract; cause property damage and/or injury to self or others resulting in loss of staff/associate morale, increased expenses and loss of proper service levels to customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The position is expected to have full supervisory responsibility for 1-4 staff and associates working in the landscape department. Provides daily work direction, approval of absences, and makes recommendations regarding pay changes, and job changes with Landscape Manager. Provides training to staff and associates to maintain groundskeeping industry standards and safety protocols.
Specific Job Skill Requirements:
- Landscape Maintenance Professional with 2 years of experience and a desire to train others.
- Excellent supervisory and communication skills required to build a productive team of employees.
- Ability to make sound decisions for the growth of the department.
- Must be able to balance working at production pace, while ensuring quality standards and specifications are met.
- Ability to participate in team development and team-oriented processes and to motivate others to do the same.
- Basic knowledge of technology to use for communication, scheduling work, etc. · Physical ability to bend, twist, climb stairs, stoop, kneel and reach overhead required.
- Proven ability to operate landscape tools and power equipment to meet safety standards and train others on the same.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required for hiring.
- Must pass criminal history check conducted by MHDDSD.
- Most importantly, a desire to make a positive impact for the neurodiverse
